Several sociologists and theorists claim that in postmodernity the boundaries between tourist and migrant, nomadic and vagabond are increasingly blurred. Actually, they can alternate in the same person. The Chinese novel by Chen He represents how dangerous is nostalgia for any confidence in the possibility to define one’s identity. Today, in the liquid society, a tourist can become a migrant and a migrant can become a tourist: so, Change and Mobility are not a loss of stability, but can be a chance to experience several identities.
