Abstract

A Grave for a Dolphin, published in London in 1956 and never printed in Italy, epitomizes the salient features of duke Alberto Denti di Pirajno’s literary, medical, and colonial experience. A multifaceted writer yet to be discovered in the middle of the 20th century, in many respects. The articles here presented work towards a foray into the core of Denti’s writing: the former, written by Giulio Carlo Pantalei, proposes a translation sample preceded by a note on the style, the language, and the literary models; the latter, by Ugo Fracassa, pieces together his adventurous biographical, critical and receptive history (from Montale to David Bowie), bringing themes and structures into focus.
