This study intends to apply a pluridisciplinary approach crossing psycholinguistics and gender studies to the teaching/learning of FOS in a university setting, focusing in particular on the explicit and systematic teaching of the lexicon (Grossman 2011, Tremblay and Polguère 2014, Frassi 2018, Tremblay and Anctil 2020, Sardier 2021) of tourism and gastronomy, associated with the gender lexicon. The study also looks at the transcultural reflection or metaphorical gastronomic migrations from L2 to L1 and vice versa that the lexical/terminological units imply during the learning process. A teaching unit was designed for this purpose, entitled Tourism, gastronomy and gender: a dialogue, the content and activities of which were adapted to the dual need to prepare learners for entry into the professional sphere and to raise their awareness of the gender issues arising in the fields of tourism and gastronomy. The experiment was aimed at Italian-speaking students in the second year of a degree course in Turismo, Territori e Imprese at the University of Palermo.
